CONTEST HANDBOOKS & MANUALS

The UIL publishes manuals and handbooks as free downloads to provide guidelines for each UIL academic contest. Handbooks are intended for contestants, coaches and contest directors. All participants should be familiar with the contents. Most are updated every year or substantially revised every few years as needed.

ADMISSIONS TEST

Brooklyn Tech administers the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) usually in late October for eighth graders, and early November for ninth graders and students with special accommodations.

FALL 2017 SHSAT Schedule

8th Graders: October 21 - 22, 2017
9th Graders: October 29, 2017
8th and 9th Grade Special Accommodations Students (IEP/504/ELL): October 29, 2017 or November 4, 2017
Students new to NYC: End of Summer 2018

Admissions tickets are mailed to all public, private and parochial schools and should be available based upon your school's distribution schedule. See your guidance counselor for an admissions ticket. Brooklyn Tech DOES NOT provide admissions tickets to individuals, only to schools directly.

For specific information regarding the Specialized High School Admissions Test, please download the attached 2017-2018 Specialized High School Handbook. This is a NYC Department of Education publication outlining the entire Specialized High School testing and admissions process in addition to offering two sample examinations with explanations.
